The Peirce Elementary School in Newton has an awesome program for future scientists and engineers called "Curious Kids Science Fridays!" On April 7, 2006 Paul led the session.
Using the Bridge and Turnpike building sets, Paul helped seven tables of kindergraden and first-grade students to build a truss bridge. Each table of about seven children built a 1.5 ft section of bridge which they then connected all together to make an 11 ft bridge. This was the final session of a six week program where the children learned about the basic types of bridges and each week there was a different hands-on learning activity.
We were very pleased to be able to support such a wonderful program!
